Four thousand tickets will be available for the remainder of the
2008-09 season, which includes the world premiere of Gunther
Schuller's Where the Word Ends and Verdi's Simon Boccanegra
conducted by music director James Levine.
Normally priced from $29 to $115, the tickets are subsidised by an
anonymous donator who wants young music enthusiasts to be able to
attend BSO concerts regularly at a lower cost.
The first programme available for $20 is Brahms' Handel
Variations, Elgar's Cello Concerto and Tchaikovsky's
Manfred Symphony conducted by Gennady Rozhdestvensky and featuring
cellist Lynn Harrell, which runs from 20-25 November.
The offer complements the BSO's ongoing effort to promote live
classical music to younger audiences, through its college card,
education programmes for children and young adults, and repartee
programmes for college and postgraduate students.
Discounted tickets are available for over 45 concerts and 13
programmes, such as Colin Davis conducting Berlioz's Te Deum
and Hans Graf conducting a programme of Brahms and Bruckner
featuring violinist Janine Jansen and cellist Alisa Weilerstein.
Up to two tickets can be purchased for any of the concerts on 617
266 1200 or 888 266 1200.
