Only Men Aloud! releases its debut album

UK
26 November 2008
THE MALE VOICE CHOIR THAT WON THIS SUMMER’S BBC ONE SERIES LAST CHOIR STANDING RELEASES ITS DEBUT ALBUM THIS WEEK.

Since winning the competition on 30 August, Only Men Aloud! has signed a multi-million-pound, five-album deal with Universal Classics and Jazz and has been recording a self-titled album with a full orchestra.

The disc features Albinoni's Adagio and Welsh hymn Cwm Rhondda, plus several songs it performed during the television series such as Don't Rain on My Parade, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Angels and All by Myself. It also includes renditions of The Beach Boys' God Only Knows and Seal's Kiss From a Rose.

Choir master and musical director Tim Rhys-Evans said: 'I believe the human voice is the only natural instrument and it is capable of a greater variety of sounds, textures and colours than any man-made instrument.

'When you put a group of them together the possibilities are endless,' he continued. 'And being part of that is something that can really enhance your life.'
